I served with David in the Civil Rights Division. I was assigned to the trial staff, notably to Alabama voting rights section. Harold Greene was head of the appellate section where David worked along with Howard Glickstein. In 1965, Bill Taylor, staff director of the Civil Rights Commission, recruited David, Howard and me to join their staff. David was a brilliant lawyer and a lovely human being, I knew about his illness and regret we didn't keep in touch. I'm going to forward his obit to the DOJ Civil Rights Division Alumni Association in case that has not been done.
